  • Set up call STALLS at Importing (Loading Data)

    Thanks in advance.

During an unexpected power outage my old series 1 Tivo got "confused" and began failing daily update calls. The status screen showed it got stalled during the update calls at 98% and everything just froze.

I started from scratch and went through initial setup, not caring that all my settings and shows would be lost. In the Setup Call (10-20 min) screen it hangs on the 4th of five steps; Importing (Loading data) The progress wheel rotates but no progress indicator and nothing changes. Every now and then - I've attempted this many times - the progress indicator will advance to 59% before hanging. I power down because there is no other way to restart and the Tivo wakes up in the setup mode. I'm toast: I can't progress past Importing and when I power-down-reset it comes back to SetUp. Vicious circle.

    Now general questions:

I have a Lifetime Subscription but my box appears to be dead. Also, the digital change over made most of my cable channels go away. I can see the channels on a newer cable ready TV. Can I get a cable ready Tivo? Can I upgrade to one so I keep my Lifetime Subscription? I don't care about HDTV just the access to unencoded QAM signals on my Comcast cable. NO I do not have a Comcast Box nor do I plan to get one.

    Thanks in advance.

That's almost definitely a hard drive problem. A "replace" kit for your model should fix the problem:

Here's full information about using your unit or a newer unit with digital channels:
