I have a 5+ year old Tivo Series 2. The power supply has already been replaced once about two years ago. In the last month, we've been noticing that the audio on some shows (either Live TV or recorded) has distorted audio. The sound can best be described as squealing or high-pitched distortion. When the squeal is present it is present regardless of the volume in the underlying audio. You can still make out the underlying dialogue or sound, it's just accompanied by a piercing/irritating squeal.
There is no discernible pattern between shows and networks. One channel may have the squeal, but it's not present switching to a different channel.
I've eliminated the TV as a source of the problem, because (1) I've confirmed the problem on a different TV and (2) if I hear the distortion on a live show and then bypass the Tivo and send the signal directly to the TV, the distortion isn't there even.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
