I have a Directv Tivo Series2 (huges) box and I am trying to ditch my land line phone serivce. I have run a test by disconnecting my land line from the tivo box to see if the program guide would still update. However, to my surpriese I went for about two weeks and everything was fine until I discoverd that every channel on the guide had "to be announced". I plugged the phone line in and the guide went back to normal the next day. I thought I read on weaKnees that a land line is not necessary for this box. My question are; do I need a land line hooked up to this box? Will the guide work without a land line? If a land line is not necessary how do I make this work? This box is fantastic but I want to ditch my land line to save a few bucks a month.

Any suggestions?
