  • Trouble with one channel/transponder - R10

For the first time in the several years I've had the R10, I am experiencing a problem - in which the signal from one of the two inputs on one transponder doesn't pop up for several (sometimes many) seconds after changing to it. And correspondingly, the picture on one station (sometimes two) of the lineup that I watch, does not come on during that time - with the message box about searching for satellite in 1.

If I switch cables at the receiver, it's the other input that's effected - which leads me to suspect the LNB. I DON"T suspect cabling or connectors, because the signal strength of both inputs on all other transponders is nearly equal.

Does this issue sound familiar to anyone? I will go find a replacement LNB if possible in this smallish town - Newport, OR. Thanks for any suggestions.

If the problem follows the cable, then the problem is with your dish (LNB), multiswitch (if you are using one) or the cable itself, not the DVR. I'd recommend that you have DIRECTV come out and take a look.

      Thanks, Jeff,

I'm an RVer, and also a Ham Radio Operator. I don't think I need DirecTv to come out actually. I hadn't known if the LNB was subject to failure after some years - or even if it might get in a condition that moisture could get in. It has dried up only in the last few days here on the Oregon Coast after lots of wet weather.

      Thanks for the response.
