  • DirecTV Tivo wont access menus

I think I ruined by Hughes HDVR2 TIVO by swapping a hard drive from a DirecTV R10 into this unit. When I powered up the Hughes unit it wouldnt go beyond the Welcome screen so I reinstalled the original hard drive. Now it brings up a picture but it won't change channels or allow me to open the DirecTV menu either with the remote or pushing the buttons on the front of the unit... Is it fried?? thanks

Sounds like you might have powered on the unit with the front panel ribbon cable disconnected. IF that's what happened, then it would cause the remote not to work and would require a motherboard repair. You might want to contact us if you want the unit repaired.

      No menus

I double checked that cable to the front panel before I powered up the unit. Can the mobo be damaged by just hooking up a hard drive from a different model TIVO even though both are Series 2? thanks

No, an R10 drive in an HDVR (or vice versa) won't cause you to lose your remote permanently.
