  • Sony T60 having trouble-New Power supply

I have a Sony T60 that has been in constant usage since 2001. WOW!!!! A few weeks ago, I lost power during a storm and got the "Powering up" screen, thinking it's finally dead. I unplugged the unit, burned some candles and was prepared for burial but thought maybe it needed to reset. I search the forums with no success. I plugged it back end and held various combinations of buttons and it powered up fine after a few attempts. Back in business until last week when my power cycled about 5X's. While I had live tv, I powered it down to prevent any issues. A few hours later plugged it back in and now can get past the PU Screen. I ordered and installed a new power supply from Weeknees and also had to replace my fan as it was also dead. I believe that my unit has overheated in the past due to the fan being out of service.

Is it my drive??? I hate to keep guessing and buying parts. I have a RCA DVR 80 unit that I inherited. The RCA has a Maxor drive and my T-60 has a Quantum drive. I would like to upgrade to a bigger drive but before I sink anymore $$ into my Series 1 T60 I was curious if I could swap the drive to rule out the potential bad drive.

    Any suggestions?

The unit may very well have a bad drive. You can see our troubleshooting info here:

The RCA and SAT T60 drives are not interchangeable.

Talk about fast response!!!! Yeah I checked the link out before and thought that based on what I read, that it was the power supply. If I buy an upgraded drive unit, can I return the power supply? PM me if you like.

          WK,

I ordered your hard drive and installed it in about 5 minutes. A TIVO Miracle happened again, It works, it works!!! Sad that were this excited about getting my machine back up and running but once you've lived with TIVO you can't live without it. I'm holding off on switching to HD until DTV gets the TIVO boxes.
