  • Troubleshooting Question

After thinking that I had diagnosed my problem as a bad hard drive, I replaced it and still have the same problem. The problem is pixelization on one tuner, but it appears like it is only when that one tuner is on the local channels. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Sure wish I had just replaced the whole works instead of investing in a new hard drive.

We've seen that before - sometimes bad tuners behave like that. If it's only on one tuner, try switching the cables leading to the tuner and see if the problem stays with that tuner or follows the cable.

We can fix the tuner if you need it.
    Been here a long time . . .

So how do I determine which tuner is which? I see no way to differentiate between the two tuners when I am watching

When you are watching a tuner, disconnect one of the satellite inputs (pull the cable out) and see if the picture goes away.

I certainly get that, but tell me how I determine if I am on tuner A or B when I flip back and forth between tuners?

I will make the determination if the problem follows the cable, but can't right now due to the fact that I am recording something right now. I will post back tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Say you are watching 202 and 204 and are flipping between them. Tune to the tuner with 202. Pull a sat cable 1. If you still get 202, then you know 202 is on sat 2.

I was wondering if there was a way without pulling cables. It doesn't appear that there is.

I did finally get around to checking to see if my problem follows the cable and it does not follow the cable. I guess that confirms the problem is with the tuner?
