  • CableCard for TiVo/SuddenLink?

I have a TiVo Series 2 but I am currently using the SuddenLink Digital tuner with built in DVR (Scientific Atlanta). The SA box is moronic when compared to TiVo, but it DOES let me record two programs at the same time.

Is there any way I could get that capability with TiVo? I hear the cable companies are doing everything they can to drag their feet on CableCard and I don't know if it works with TiVo anyway?

Sure - if you go HD.

HD boxes use CableCARDs, and they don't use a cable box. CableCARDs can decode two channels at once.

    See our CableCARD TiVos.
    Been here a long time . . .

How Are the Cable Providers Reacting

thanks, Michael, that is good to know. What I am wondering, though, is if the Cable provides are playing ball or creating obstacles to getting it work. I am specifically interested in SuddenLink, but I guess any experience you have would be relevant.

Cable providers are legally obligated to provide CableCARDs, so I don't think youll have difficulty. IF you have questions, you can call your cable provider and ask how much they charge for cards.
