  • Uploading home movie on Humax 400 and put in directory

I am looking at using your dual disk external storage for my Tivo HD but I need to solve a problem first.

I have several Tivos (two Humax 400 and one Tivo series 2 DT). I am looking at adding a Tivo HD. I want to use the Humax to upload home movies and move these moves to the Tivo HD through the network on to the external storage. Is there a certain way to name a recording so when I upload a home movie on the Humax from the front composite ports that all my home movies look like they are in a directory. I know Tivo does not let users create sub directory. How does Tivo record all my show of Ghost Wisper and put them in a directory. If this can be done, what happens when I transfer between units? Will they create a directory on the other units?

    Thanks,

    Gary

You can name the show whatever you want at the time of recording, but there's no way to make a subdirectory full of the shows you choose - that level of detail just isn't available here.

I just don't know how Tivo uses that group viewing function . In the "Now Playling List" and you have Grouping on, show are shown in directories if their are from the same series. How is this done? Is there a way to name the home movies I am uploading to get the same effect? I know if Grouping is off, all show are show as single entries and if Grouping is on, all series are show in a directory.

      Thanks,

      Gary

I think I got it. If I name all my movies as Home Movies and I have Groups turn on they would be shown as a directory. But the problem is I would not know what is what. Tivo does not give you a way to do what I want to do. Am I right?

        Thanks,

        Gary

That's right - if the name is the same, they should group.
