  • Shows showing yellow light too soon

I installed a new replacement 1 tb drive in my DirectTV Hughes TIVO SD-DVR40 and it booted up just fine. Downloaded the new program guide, called to get my local channels back in and everything seemed to go pretty smooth. Can see the recording capacity as 973 hours now...

I setup some season passes and they record fine. When I look at the now showing list, some of the programs recorded are turning yellow saying they would be deleted soon. Why is this? There should be PLENTY of space left and I wouldn't have thought I'd see any yellow lights for weeks or longer with the amount of space available.

Even if the standard drive was still in there (40 hours) seems like nothing should be turning yellow for a few days.

Any ideas? I also have the season pass set to "all episodes" thinking it might delete those to keep it under the 5 or 10 limit.

Right - those lights don't really re-calibrate with the extra space. But you won't lose a show anytime soon. You'll have it until the drive is truly full.
    Been here a long time . . .

OK...cool...one last question, is the any way to know the free space left on the upgraded Tivo? If the lights aren't going to show when a show is really close to being deleted, is there any way to at least know when the drive is almost full?

      thanks...

Not exactly. One way is to turn suggestions on, and when they are gone, you will be out of space. Or, watch the deleted items folder. As deleted items start to disappear, you are running out of space.
