  • Loss of signal and cut off recordings

    Hi,

My TiVo (Philips Series1) just started being very flaky. Looks like it may be a heat problem? After I turn it on, it's fine for a little while (several hours to a few days) and then it starts showing the blue screen (cannot watch live TV because there is no signal). The shows that it records record for just a split second, so when I press Play, I see the initial frame or two and then it stops saying the recording is over.

I originally thought the HD was going, but now that I see that when it's power cycled, it seems to "reset" itself and work for a little bit, I am wondering if it's a heat problem elsewhere.

I have lifetime on it, so I would love to keep it around.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Mark

Forgot to mention - it's connected directly to cable through RF.

I don't think it's a drive, and it may not be heat, either. Or, put another way, a fan isn't likely to solve the problem. You could have a defective chip (or chips) that start to act up when they get hot, but if that's the case, you need a motherboard repair.

Anyway, since you have lifetime service, it may be worth repairing. To get a quote, contact us.
