  • RCA DVR40 and SWM--Compatible??

I just moved into a new townhome completely wired with DirecTV and SWM going into a brand new HD DVR.

I would like to use my 2002 RCA TiVO DVR40 (upgraded to 160 hours).

I have been browsing the board and it seems this box is NOT COMPATIBLE with SWM lines.

I am not going to pull more cables lines etc. I rather buy a new box (but I love TiVO!)

Is there anyway I can connect the legacy DVR? I only care to watch one channel rather than buy a new box? I do not need the dual lines (that is, I dont care.)

    Thanks in Advance.

Yes, you can use a single line from a legacy port and get only one tuner.

I tried connecting the RCA DVR40 and it failed. It does get a signal but fails to proceed.

I suspect that the software is "old" since due to my use of Vonage, I had not been able to do any telephone upgrades in maybe 1 year.

I should have a land line soon and hope that will upgrade the machine and allow me to use the DVR.

I take it by your simple answer, I only have to plug and play!

      Thanks

The software really shouldn't matter. The legacy ports are just like an output from any standard dish.
