    HR10-250: Newest software

    What is the newest software for HR10-250 units and is this being done because of the Guide Data format changing?

    Anything else is being added with this release?

    If there is one, is this newest release safe and tested? I dont really want to leave my 6.3e version that has worked rock solid for I dont know how long now.

    Also, has there been any freezing/repeating and loss of remote control issues recently. I have a friend that has a HR10-250 - not sure what software version - but says it is having problems like that now.

      This is a heads up .. I'm not sure what the most recent code levels are for the TiVos, but if you are running older versions (perhaps forcing the TiVo to remain at a lower revision than is currently available), then you need to be aware of changes that are taking place.

      Soon the GUIDE data format will be modified to the point that old software will not be able to properly understand it. As a result, those systems that have not received a recent software update may no longer work properly.
      This is what I read.

          It was a post on a chat board like this one and guess I think it was recent but couldnt swear to it. it was followed up by coments about having to upgrade to 6.4 and/or 6.4a.

          So guide data isnt changing and we dont need to update?

          And you say 6.4a is sold but how long has it been out and how solid do you feel it really is? Would like to get a 'feel' for it from your comments regarding that build.

            It has been out a long time, we have sold a LOT of hard drives loaded with that software, and have had no systemic problems.

              Ok thanks.

              What is the newest version number for an R10?

              And what version should I use for that if the newest isnt good?

              I dont want to plug in the phone line if the newest version isnt good.

                6.4a is the latest for the R10 as well, and it's good too.

                    Same release number. You cannot move drives between machines.
