I just picked up a used series one that had the old Quantum drive & had not yet been updated. A few years ago back at Maxtor Corp, I used their imaging machine a made up a master & slave (two 300GB drives). I had done this before & they work for my other TIVO. At any rate, when I installed these two drives I went through the normal set up & used ANT for my starting source as I was told that this may be the proper way. Anyhow, everything worked great & I was able to get the normal channel line up for the normal antennae deal. Well, when I finally go to change the source from ANT to cable & choose the call in number from my area code, I select it, but whan I try to go to the dialing format to get the channel line up for the cable source - the TIVO seems to want to go forward, but instead decides to flicker & reset itself & the whole things starts all over again where I have to set up, etc, etc. Does anyone think it may be a software clitch. Can someone please help? Thanks!!

That's almost definitely a bad drive - not too surprising given the likely age of those drives. A "replace" kit should fix that:

Is it possible that after testing other units with six sets of drives, master/slave that the softwate could have been altered somehow? I did interchange some thinking that a drive could be bad & had run several tests with those changes & have come to the same thing. The strange this is that everythink works for noram TV, just not cable line up dial format.
