How to find out modem problem SVR-2000

Dudes and Betties,
How does one make sure that this old model TiVo SONY SVR-2000
modem is toast? The daily call is interrupted at different stages each
attempt. Methinks it is modem but the modem is internal and unit
has no serial port. Please help.

Actually, that unit does have a serial port. It just don't look like one since it's shaped like a headphone jack.

But the 'call interrupted' message is actually usually a bad hard drive. You should try a "replace" kit from here:
