Dear Friends,
In a previous thread, (http://www.wkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2497), I described the problem that I was having with digitization and spontaneous rebooting on my Directv/Tivo DVR & satellite system. While all my three DVRs were showing some digitization resulting from, "Searching for signal in Sat.2", the worst remains my Hughes HDVR3. I have replaced the hard drive in this unit with a new Seagate hard drive formatted by Weakness, and replaced the multiswitch with a Zinwell WB616, and, of course, checked the tightness of all connections. This has cleared up the problem in two of my three dvrs. However, the HDVR3 still digitizes pictures and displays the, "Searching for signal. . ." message and still spontaneously reboots. These problems are much reduced from before I performed the repairs mentioned above, but they still occur. I have noticed that they are especially prevalent on the USA, (Channel #242), and ScFi , (Channel #244), channels. Clearly, the signal in Sat. 2 for these channels is being weakly received at the DVR since, when they are coming in live, I can switch from one satellite to the other on the same channel by clicking the, "Live TV", button on the remote, and Sat. #1 transmission will be perfect but the Sat. #2 transmission will be unviewable and mute for the same episode due to digitization. My transponders and all functioning well above minimal limits, most in the nineties and a few in the eighties.
I assume that there is something else wrong with my DVR. If you know of a repair that I might undertake myself, with the caveat that I am not adept at electronics or computers, could you please tell me. If not, is this a problem that it would seem Weaknees technicians could repair at their shop if I sent the unit to you? If so, could you tell me what the charge would be?
The unit ha a lifetime Tivo subscription which I would like to preserve.
Thanks for your attention.
Cordially,
PapaJoe
