  • You have inserted the wrong card

One of the tuners was going bad on my Hughes unit, so I come to Weaknees, buy a new unit (Philips) with a bigger hard drive. Going through the whole set up and when it tells me to call DirecTV to activate my new account I figured I didn't need to do that. It's not new. I have my access card and then I get the message, "You have inserted the wrong card."

    What gives?

    Thanks

Unless you get DirecTV's approval, you generally can't move access cards between units.
    Been here a long time . . .

Does this mean I should have purchased a new card or can I call DirecTV and see if they'll move it?

You should be able to get a new card from DIRECTV and in some cases you can call them and ask them to use the old card. There is no rhyme or reason as to when they allow it and when they don't.
