Account Status/ Sevice Level ?

I bought a Toshiba Series 2 SD-H400 on eBay and was looking at System Information:

TiVo Account Status : 8:Closed call 1-877-xxx-xxxx
TiVo Service Level: K: 120108

Any ideas what this means? I'm hoping status just means the paid plus service is over and that account was shut, but I'll have no issues with the basic service. Is it safe to assume the basic service is good for the life of the machine? (that resold units won't have issues, aside from mechanical failures)

Wireless adaptor?

I understand I need the paid service to network two of these machines. Can I still use the wireless network USB adaptor instead of the phone line now that set up is finished?
