  • How Do I Force A 6.4 Upgrade?

I recently purchased a used Hughes HDVR2 to add to my system. I got the new access card from DirecTV, hooked it up, and everything is working fine with a couple of exceptions. This DVR hadn't been hooked up for about 4 years and it still has 6.2 version software. It been on for about 5 days now, has been calling in everyday, and still hasn't done the upgrade to the new version. How can I force the upgrade? In addition, and I suspect this is due to the fact it has old software, the time on the DVR shows one hour earlier then the actual time. I have the zip code correct, and have set the time zone to auto detect, and daylight saving to auto detect. I tried switching to Pacific time zone (I'm in Seattle) and recognize daylight saving time, and it still shows one hour early. Other then these things it works brilliantly. Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks

There's really no way to 'force' it - you have to just do all you can to let your machine be available for the update. So leave it on, connected to the phone line, and to two satellite cables. Then, restart it every once in a while and force a dial in and see what happens.
    Been here a long time . . .

When you say leave it on do you mean leave it plugged in and on Standy, or actually on and Active on a channel?

Actually active, on a channel. Frankly, I never recommend standby. All that does is to cut the video output, which really doesn't save power, components, or noise.
