Unit started freezing up. Replaced hard drive and IDE cable. Unit worked for a couple of days then froze up again. When I rebooted it never got past powering up screen. Then this morning when I attempted to reboot, the unit does not even power up. Is this likely a power supply problem?

You have no lights, no power at all to the unit?

Then it probably is a bad power supply. You had problems as it failed, but now that it's completely failed, you get no lights or video. Sometimes, in this situation, you'll actually still get the fan to spin.Been here a long time . . .Comment

Thanks. However, now the unit is powered up again, but I can't get past the powering up screen. Still think it's a power supply issue?Comment

Without the other symptoms, I'd say that's a bad hard drive, but I think the problem is that the power supply doesn't have enough voltage to get the hard drive spinning, so the problem is masking itself as a bad drive, when it really is the power supply.
If you ever get a situation with no lights and no video, that's almost always the power supply.Been here a long time . . .Comment

Thanks. Hope it is the power supply. Just ordered one from you guys yesterday. I am basically rebuilding this unit piece by piece. However, even if I did not need a new hard drive to start with I am glad to have the added capacity.Comment
