  • DirecTV R16 coax wiring question

    I have a DirecTV R16 and a round satellite.

I have one coax line coming to a room in my house and I want to use both tuners on the R16. Where do I need to split the signal in order for both tuners to work? Can I just split the coax line in that room, or does it need to be split at the source?

You can't do it with that unit and that satellite.

So how would I need to wire it? I'm using this exact satellite with the R10 and it works fine.

You are getting two tuners from your R10 by splitting a single wire out of the dish?

I will look at the dish tomorrow, but I was told it was a round dish and only had one coax line running to it. They could have told me wrong though. I am definitely getting two tuners on the R10.

If you have two tuners, then you are running two lines from your dish to the R10. If you replace it with an R15 and use the same two cables, it will also get two tuners.
