I'm helping a friend of mine troubleshoot a TiVo problem.
Right now when you plug it in, the fan spins, but there are no lights on the front, no hard drive activity and no display on the TV.
She has a TCD24004A with a lifetime subscription. Her brother in-law has an old TCD540140 that he no longer uses and gave to her use the HD.
I swapped his HD into her TiVo hoping that it was just a bad drive. No luck. Same issue. I put her drive into his box and it powers on fine. I swapped the IDE cable just to test that as well.
After reading around this site, I'm thinking it's a power supply issue. My question is: can I swap the PS from the 540140 into the 24004A?
I'd rather not have her buy a PS and it turn out to not resolve the issue either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
