This forum is my last hope. I have dealt with DirecTV, Tivo, and Hughes with no success. Let me explain my situation and what I am trying to accomplish. Hopefully someone can help solve my problems.
I have a Hughes HDVR2 which was purchased June, 2003. At that time our service was through Tivo. We went with DirecTV when DirecTV and Tivo split. This Hughes Unit was our primary satelite box up until June, 2006 at which time we moved and purchased a DirecTV Plus HD DVR-HR20-700 for the Master Bedroom and HD-HR20-100 for the living room. We have a 5 LNB satelite dish.
I am trying to accomplish two things: (1) Network the HDVR2 to my home network and network it to my Intel Media Center, and (2) transfer the recordings I have on my HDVR2 to my desk top computer (Dell 420, Vista Ultimate OS).
I have tried downloading Tivo Desktop and have purchased a Tivo Wireless G USB Network Adapter and USB 2.0/ethernet adapter. None of these have worked, I think, because the software on HDVR2 is version 6.4a-01-2-151 and I need a higher version to be able to use the above products. The HDVR2 still has the original 32 hour recording capacity hard drive.
DirecTV can't or won't help because they don't support equipment with Tivo software. Tivo won't help by downloading the newer version of software because I don't have an account with them. With Hughes I get a recorded message that says to call DirecTV.
I am hopefull that someone out there can help.
