Two series 2 tivos, can I move hd from one to the other?

Hi,

I have two series 2 tivos, both humax model t800. One of them seems to have a bad serial output for cable box tuning. The other has a dead hd.

Can i move my good hd to the good tivo by just swapping drives?

Yes, but after the move you have to choose 'clear and delete everything' in the system reset menu.

I switched a "new" hard drive from a humax series 2 I bought on line and put it into my Humax drt800 with dvd burner (the one I bought on-line didn't have a burner). Even with the "new" harddrive, I can't get past "Welcome, powering up," screen even after the reset 57 attempt. Any idea

You cannot put a drive from a T2500 or T800 into a DRT800. The OP asked about moving a drive between two T800s...that's different.
