  • Pioneer DVR-810H sound problem

Has anyone owning this DVR or a similar one ever had problems with the sound when playing from the hard drive? Sound seems to be fine when playing live TV and using the TIVO's menu options, but drops off to next to nothing when playing from the hard drive. Even with the TV's sound set to its highest level I can still barely hear anything. I'd appreciate comments from anyone who's had this or a similar problem. Thanks!!

Live TV or playing from the hard drive should be the same thing, since all live TV is really buffered.

Hmm. Point taken, but for whatever reason the sound does act differently between playing Live TV and playing back recorded shows. There must be some reason this is so, but I really have no idea why. I hate to have to send the TIVO back to Pioneer because its very expensive but I really don't know what else to do at this point. Electronic repair stores don't want to deal with it because they say its to difficult to get parts, so I guess I'll just have to pony up the $350 and send it back to manufacturer.

        That's probably the best option.

The only other thought we'd have for you is to try a replacement power supply. Sometimes, strange audio issues seem to be power-supply-related, although we don't exactly know why.

We do have replacement power supplies for the Pioneer.

I Lose sound sometimes when starting to play a TiVoCast.
A restart fixes it but, I just found that if I play any mp3 file
from my network, that immediately fixes the problem (until
the next occurrence). Definitely a software bug.

Sounds like it. Pretty unusual and annoying, but at least it's a working fix.
