  • Any Ideas??

We discovered a few months ago that our new Samsung LCD HD TV resets our Tivo when we turn the TV on. We discovered that it was the TV after trouble shooting and discussion with other members on the TIVO threads. My issue is for the past few months we have to cover the TIVO up every time we turn the TV on and its just getting so annoying, my kids can't do both and it really hard to explain to people how to turn the TV on. We have no other place to move the Tivo to in the entertainment center. Is there anything we can buy or do to try to make this easier??

We have a series 2 tivo and wanted to upgrade to 3 to see if that solves the issue but we have DirectTV and will not go back to comcast, and the 3 does not support satellite.=(

    any ideas? Thanks!!

How about put the TiVo inside a cabinet or a closet and use this:

    TiVo RF Remote Converter

(FYI, I'm a bit surprised that this is happening...does it happen even if you have no cables connected between the TiVo and the TV?)

the tivo is under the TV in a Cabinet at the very bottom as far away from the TV as we can get it!!! It has something to do with the start up of the tv sending all sorts of IR pulses out that somehow makes the TIVO reset, even though you can't do that with out all the complicated buttons you have to hold to do it with the remote. We also turn the TV on at the TV and do not use the remote.

If you're already in a cabinet, then you should consider the product I posted above. You would basically be able to cover the entire front panel of the TiVo and shield it from the blasts from your TV.

Well I love the idea of that product, our only gripe is we have a harmony remote!! To get rid of a $300 remote and spend more money and have 4 remotes again is kinda silly. I guess I will have to make something to cover it thats easy to remove and put on unless anyone else has any ideas?? UGG!!

The RF works with most Harmony remotes that don't take rechargeable batteries.
