Install a tcd540080 hdd in a tcd540040?

Hey everyone. Yesterday, the power went out and ever since my tcd540040 hangs on the opening screen. I know someone who has a tcd540080 that said they would sell the HDD out of it to me. It has the tivo image on it and has never been connected to a PC.

My question is if I were to install the tcd540080 hdd in a tcd540040, would eveything work like normal? I had originally purchased the lifetime subscription service, would this still be valid? Thanks in advance!

Yes - those two models use the same OS, so that won't be a problem at all.

When you move a drive from one unit to another, you'll run into the Error #51 hardware issue. To clear that, you'll need to do a "Clear and delete everything" from the menus.
