I don't have an active phone line but I do have cable internet. Does anyone know if I need to have a phone line installed. I'd rather not.

I'm not sure which model to buy. I want a SD (HD seems pretty expensive) that will hook up to my shaw cable. I have cable internet access with a wireless router...its a very fast area.

Well, assuming you get a Series2 or Series3 unit that isn't for DirecTV (sounds like that's what you're looking for) then you can do setup and use the unit with a TiVo Wireless G adapter from here:
