Can Direct TV use a regular TIVO?

I have DirectTV and the DVR right now, but can I switch to a regular TIVO and some sort of tuner? Do I have to use the neutered DVR-Tivo combo thing?

You can get a D11/D12/D13 from DirecTV (or us) and use that with a standalone TiVo. More info is here:
