    I have an old series 2 TIVO 40 hour. Using cable (NCTV) without a box. Recently unit is "stuttering" and failing to record some shows (various channels). Whenever it fails to record a show I get the message "...because no video signal was on the channel..." I know that's not true because I can monitor the channel on my TV. I've rebooted the unit and have had no other problems. My wife can't live w/o her TIVO and is making threats unless I fix the problem. Help!

    That could be a bad tuner. If you do get a recording, is it playable repeatedly?

      Help!

      If I do get a recording, usually about 80-90% of the time, it is replayable, can even be deleted and then brought back. I've either got it or not.

        You might try a 'clear and delete everything' in the system reset menu to rule out a drive or software issue, but it doesn't really sound drive -related.
