Using IR Cable on Charter digital cable box

I've set up the tivo with a splitter from the outside cable connection with one cable to the cable box and the other to the Tivo. I've also set up the IR where I think it goes.

I'm not sure I've located the IR port on the cable box as there is no round item under the black glass. The box is a Scientific American Explorer 3000.

When I'm in Tivo setup and it tries to change the channels the channel doesn't change however sometimes the number on the front of the cable box does change.

Can anyone assist?

Try moving the IR blaster back a bit so it covers a larger area of the front panel.

Also, if you aim light at the cable box at a certain angle, you may find the window.

Finally, try using the cable remote right at the box and by moving side to side and seeing when it changes channels, you may get a good idea of the location of the receiver.
