Record saved tivo to dvd/vhs

How do I record a saved tivo program to my dvd/vhs unit? I can play dvd's and vhs tapes on the unit but when I tried to record a saved tivo program nothing happened.
I have hooked up cables from the back of the tivo unit that says "out" to the cable" in" on my dvd/vhs unit and nothing records. What am I doing wrong.

Can you view the TiVo screens through the unit? Do you have to change the input selection on the DVD/VHS recorder?

Been here a long time . . .

I have to change the input select on my comcast remote to play a video on my tv. I do not think I can view tivo from my vhs/dvd recorder

Your cable signal should go from the wall to the Tivo to the vcr/dvd recorder to your tv. You'll have to turn on the vcr and make sure it's built in tuner is picking up the signal, when you activate the tv/vcr button on most remotes you should still see your Tivo screens. This is how you'll know that the Tivo can be recorded.
