I have a Series 2 TCD024008A bought new maybe 30 months ago. It's been periodically freezing up for the last six months or so. Sometimes it freezes a few times a week and sometimes it will go several weeks without an issue.
The current problem is an error message that reads something like, "The system has not connected to the TIVO service in the last 30 days. Connect now..."
However, it has been connected and downloaded program data. While it prevents me from recording, because it says it hasn't been connected, it does display the programming info for whatever channel I am watching.
I've tried to rerun the guided setup, but all it does is restart the system. It also says that it is "installing a service update" but I don't think it's really installing anything.
So, and isn't this always the question: Does this sound like a failed hard drive? I'm happy to replace it if that's what's needed because I need my TIVO! Thanks for any help.
