Canadian looking for Series 2 hack

Tivo program guide dosen't work where I live therefore, I quit the subscription. Now I find I can't even use the manual time setting to record. Tivo tells me this is the way it works.

Does anybody know of a hack I can do so that I can use the manual program feature?

If you don't have a subscription, you can do manual recordings with Series2 units.

Been here a long time . . .

No, Tivo won't allow manual recording once the subscription runs out. It puts up a message and blocks you from setting the time and channel. I confirmed this with a Tivo rep.
