  • Program scheduled for a minute or two over their normal program time

I've noticed, especially this year, that several network programs are scheduled for a minute or two longer than usual, i.e. 1 hour 1 minute. That one minute often causes a conflict with a scheduled program the following hour on a different channel, frequently preventing the second program from being recorded.

I have DirecTv and am using a HR10-250 HD DVR. Recording options allow recording time adjustments but only allow 5 minute adjustments. Obviously I could record manually or use "time record" but that is a pain. Is this a network conspiracy and is there a chance they will stop this practice?

    Any suggestions?

To be honest, while we do agree is seems like this is done to foil DVRs, we really haven't seen that confirmed. Maybe you just need a second DVR . . .

      Dual cable card...

I have encountered this problem tonight myself with Heroes and CSI Miami.

But with the Tivo HD (or any Tivo with dual cable card) would this problem be solved? Is Tivo smart enough to switch cards. While recording one program till 22:05 on one card, starting the other recording at 22:00 on the other card?

Tivo is probably smart enough to have this, but has anyone tested it?

      Thanks,
      Patrick

Yes, it'll do that, as long as two shows aren't scheduled for 22:00. If there are two, then one of those or the one ending at 22:05 gets skipped.
