  • Season Pass of Repeats only?

Is there an easy way to record a Season Pass for only repeats of a series? I'd like to record the repeat of a program since the original airing conflicts with another Season Pass. Thoughts?

How about getting all episodes of the show, but putting it as lower priority in the Season Pass Manager?

Just to be clear, are they on the same channel?

Yes, they're on the same channel. Thus they should appear as repeats rather than originals (if they were to appear on another channel), yes?

Yup - that sounds right. So just make it a lower priority and then you'll get the conflicting show first, and this second.

          My 2 Cents

It's nice when a network broadcasts a show with several air times. I have arranged all my Season Passes in an order less about my favorites and more about getting the repeats of ones that air at the same time as other shows I want to see. This can be tricky at first, figuring out where in the Season Pass hierarchy to place each show, but with practice it isn't too hard. (If the Season Pass finds a conflict with the first airing, it is smart enough to move on and get the next airing that doesn't conflict.)

Basically, put all the shows that air only once (with no repeats) at the top of the Season Pass list. (These are usually the main networks like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC.) Next place the ones that have one repeat (often channels like Sci Fi, ABC Family, USA, or FX). Then next come the ones that have multiple repeats (channels like Bravo, G4, or CMT). At the very bottom, I leave all the shows that are not currently playing but will resume later in the year.

I still check my To-Do list and To-Do History periodically, maybe once every week or two, but this hierarchy of Season Passes pretty much takes care of things so I don't miss anything.

I DO wish TiVo had a feature to allow me to tell it exactly which time to record each week on shows that have multi-repeats. For example, my TiVo will grab a Friday night 11pm episode of "Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders" via the Season Pass arrangement, but I always switch the To-Do list to get the Sunday 2pm showing instead. (This is just an example--I may not have the exact days and times right: when you have a TiVo, you don't HAVE to know which day and time things air--haha!
