    Series 3 HD does it work with all cable?

    I live on Long Island in NY and I have loved my DirecTv with Tivo for over 4 years but I just bought a new Sony LCD and needed the HD service. I went with DirecTv and got the HD20 and I hate it. I have used it for 5 hours and I cannot stand it at all. Why can't anyone except Tivo figure out the two tuner thing?

    That said does anyone know if the new series 3 is compatible with either Verizon Fios TV or Cablevision? I have seen many post about Comcast but I need to know about Cablevision.

    For years I thought I hated Cablevision and would never switch to them because of not carrying YES back in 2002 but without Tivo I realize it was the Tivo and not the DirecTv I loved.

    Also, what about using a second non hi-def series 2 Tivo in another room? I love the dual tuner feature where even if I'm not recording a show it buffers 30 minutes of the shows on each tuner. To me that is a must have.

    Yes, the TiVo Series3 and the TiVoHD are both compatible with Verizon FiOS and with Cablevision.

    In both cases, they'll use CableCARDs. Click for more info about how CableCARDs work.

      What about a non-hd receiver as a second Tivo unit to replace my HR-10 Tivo from DirecTv? Can I use one with cable or does it have to be HD?

        If you have satellite, the only dual-tuner TiVos that will work are those for DIRECTV that have DIRECTV built-in.

          I will switch to cable if I can get a dual tuner non hd Tivo box that works with cable. Is that a possibility?
