  • Samsung SIR-S4040R Video problems

I've been having some trouble tracking down some video interference in my Samsung SIR-S4040R.

Here is a flash video of the problem:
    http://www.outerworldarcade.com/arca...o_problem.html

When I substitute my non-Tivo RCA DirecTV tuner with the same cables and TV the picture is fine. I bought another Samsung SIR-S4040R unit off Ebay and it has the same symptoms.

Video interference shows in both satellite signal and Tivo menus. Checked the power supply and both +5v and +12v look are good with my multimeter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Timothy

Are you connecting one through a surge protector or power strip, but not the other?

      Thanks for your response.

For the video I had the Samsung connected to another power strip that was plugged into the power strip that the RCA is plugged into.

Just to be sure, I just plugged the Samsung into the same power strip as the RCA as well as straight into the wall with the exact same results.

Then that almost must be a bad motherboard, sorry to say.

I thought that might be the case. Can I get replacement motherboards / repair done or should I just look into getting a new Tivo?

            A replacement motherboard is essentially a new TiVo . . .
