I have a Sony SVR-2000 that is about 5 years old. I used it for 3 years with Cable in California, and could always find an IR code that worked.
2 years ago, I moved to Dallas TX and got DirecTV. When I set up Tivo here, it gave me only ONE IR code to choose from. It has worked fairly well until a few days ago.
Now, I can absolutely not change channels at all. I have tried getting a new IR transmitter and using it, but no difference.
When I call Tivo, they tell me to call Sony. When I call Sony, they tell me "the box must be broken" and even though they don't make the boxes anymore, they say I can send it in and pay $165 for a repair. But they really don't seem too knowledgeable about it.
I have lifetime service on this box, and have already replaced the hard drive, so I would really like to keep using it if possible. Any suggestions??
