I have an old Philips Tivo and a refurbished one from weaknees. The weaknees machine runs much hotter than the other (by feel). In fact, it shut itself down a few days ago. After unplugging it, it worked fine, but it is still hot. Is this normal? They are both in the same location, so ventilation is the same.

What model is the hot TiVo? What temperature does the system information screen report? Do you know if there's one drive or two in the unit, and one fan or two?That's all there is to it! -
The hot Tivo is DSR704. The temp is 67C. It has a 70 hr capacity (1 drive I guess). Don't know about fans.Comment

That's way too hot. I wonder if the fan is spinning slower than it's supposed to. How old is the TiVo from us...still under warranty? If not, you can order a fan, and if it is, contact us and we can arrange for a warranty repair on site.That's all there is to it!Comment
