  • connecting rca drc8060N dvd recorder to stand alone tivo

can anyone answer a low-tech question regarding compatibility of the drc8060N dvd recorder and stand alone tivo? specifically- will the two interact seamlessly to archive tivo recordings to dvd-r or dvd-rw? thanks

The unit actually uses DVD+R - the "+" discs are preferable because they have fewer copy protection issues.

Yes, you can pretty easily connect the two. Then just use the "save to VCR" feature on the TiVo to make convenient archives.

I'm pretty sure it will, but if it doesn't, post back and we'll help figure out any problems.

Not to hijack this thread, but I have the same DVD recorder and I just now tried three separate DVD+R blanks and the recorder told me there was an error detected on each one. I then tried a DVD+RW and it is working fine. Could it be defective blanks, or might there be something wrong with my RCA recorder? DVD+R had worked in the past....

Sure sounds like defective blanks if the +RW are working.
