Just got a used TIVO and I am having problems getting it to work. I can get it to show the main screen and play previously recorded shows, but it cannot display/record live tv.
Here are the specs:
- Philips HDR212
- No cable / satellite
- Antenna to RF input on TIVO
- Coax from RF output on TIVO to TV RF input
Here is what I have done:
- With no other cables attached, I hooked a coax from RF out on the TIVO to the tv. The TIVO main screen display was fairly crappy and there was a bunch of static. Switched from channel 3 to 4 with same results. Removed coax and replaced with RCA cables and got a good picture with no static.
- Did guided setup 2-3 times / Restarted 2-3 times / Changed channels quickly per the help. No help.
- With antenna hooked up, put TIVO in Standby. Had good quality picture on all channels thru the TV.
I am guessing the RF tuner is dead, but would like your opinions. Is there any way to take the antenna into another input (RCA or S-Video)? Can the TIVO recognize this as the antenna instead of cable/satellite?
Thanks!
Steve
