I have my DSR708 (DirectTV with TIVO) working with my existing land line. I am unable to get it to work with my VOIP. I do want to terminate my land line and I am troubleshooting how to get it to work over the VOIP. I understand that it will still work even if I cannot connect. However, I believe this will prevent me from receiving OS updates. Is this true? If so, how significant is this? I am not worried about PPV, I can use the Direct TV website with no additional charge.
