  • No channels below 100

We have 3 Tivo DVRs, a series2 DT80hr, a premier xl, and a new roamio plus.
    - The series 2 tunes in channels 1-99 but nothing above that (we do not have a cable box so this makes sense to me).
    - Up to about 2 weeks ago the premier xl (with a cable card) tuned in all our channels. Then suddenly nothing comes in on 1-99 but the rest of the channels come in fine.
    - The roamio plus (with a cable card) behaves the same way as the premier xl.

We had the cable company out and they say it is not them, which kind of makes sense. After all how does 1 tivo tune the channels but the rest do not? Then again why did the premier suddenly stop working? I'm not sure what to do, what to ask, what to try next. Any ideas?

Are you sure the Premiere is an XL and not an XL4? That would make sense - the XL4 and Roamio can't tune analog cable channels.

    But the Premiere XL can.

That wouldn't explain why your cable company switched from digital back to analog, of course.

You've tried new CableCARDs in the HD units?

Looking at my account on tivo.com and it lists a TiVo Premiere XL so I was just guessing that is what it is. But if you tell me what to look for I can check the unit.

I did not try a new CableCARD and actually I just have the one. I switched it from the Premier to the Roamio. Could the CableCARD be the problem?

Are the first three digits of the service number 748 (XL) or 758 (XL4)?

Yes, I do think the CableCARD, or its activation, could be the problem.

The first 3 are 748 so an XL. I've had the CableCARD for years but I guess they can have issues just like any other electronic component. Sounds like my next step should be to go back to the cable company and ask for a new card, would you agree?

Also thank you for taking the time to help with this, very much appreciated!

Yes - definitely get a new CableCARD first. For one thing, the swap should be free, so it's hard not to start with the free option!

But, it's also the most likely.
