    setup new tivo with outdoor camera

    Hi, can anyone guide me through the steps to have a tcd540040 record my outdoor camera activity?

    I have a lifetime tivo subscription, though not sure how to proceed with the initial setup of the tcd540040 and then afterwards start recording the camera video input.

    You'd have to just set it to record channel 3 assuming that the camera feeds a coax cable as channel 3. Otherwise, describe the outputs of the camera better and we can help.

      is there a way to get around have to register the tivo box, when i turn it on, it wants to setup and register, download the program data, etc...

      the camera is a q-see QOCDC color outdoor camera. Works great as a video input on a color tv set on video. It does not have any switches or configuration options, just a video and power cable.

        You do have to go through setup.
