  • Mini Vox/Edge and V87 when Streaming Only

Hi all... I'm at my wits end! I have had Tivo's forever. I bought a Mini Vox off Ebay (probably first mistake) and tried setting it up at home. I'm trying to connect it to my TiVo Edge and it works for displaying content that's recorded and playing back recorded shows, but I cannot get it to play a live stream. I get the dreaded "there may be network issues" / V87 message. The Mini has been activated on my account and transferred to me successfully. When I called Tivo support, I did a few things with them to force connect to the service multiple times, toggled the network remote connectivity on/off, rebooted everything including my Verizon routers, etc., etc. Finally synopsis by support was that the version on my TiVo Mini Vox cannot connect to the version of the Edge. Edge is 21.11 and Vox is 21.8-RC1. No matter how often I refresh connection to TiVo and wait for 2AM updates, it never updates the software newer on the Mini.

I'm trying how to 1) wipe the software back to TE3 so I can bypass RC-1 or 2) force the update to 21.11, reliably. With the mini, I don't see the same lights for kickstart codes offhand. I also tried connecting to an old Premiere that I still have on TE3, thinking that I could downgrade to that Premiere's version, but that Premiere tried to update itself already. RC1 makes me concerned, I know that's Release Candidate 1, so I'm assuming that has something to do with this mess.

Tivo of course only recommends that I buy a new device from them, I have to believe that this thing would work, but it's stuck somehow on wrong version.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sorry to say, I really don't know of any way to make fix that hardware. Maybe just return it to your eBay seller.
    Been here a long time . . .
