Hi,
I'm just struggling with the fact that Comcast in my area has gone fully digital, making my series 2 dual tuner obsolete (only 4 months after I upgraded to a lifetime service at the cost of $300).
I previously had a splitter, sending one line directly into the TiVo (reading an analog signal), and the other going thru the cable box (reading digital). I now have a DTA from Comcast to transform that digital signal back into analog, but that doesn't help me b/c the TiVo "sees" that as a cable box, and it can only handle one cable box. (When you go through guided set up the option is effectively "a cable box and regular cable", with no "two cable boxes" option.
I've confirmed with TiVo customer service that this is a hardware problem with this series 2. (I was hoping it was a software issue and that they'd provide so that guided set up would be updated to allow the "two cable boxes" option, but no.)
So the customer service guy sent me here, thinking that weaknees might have some hardware fix that they could do to my series 2 to fix this. Maybe something that does allow it to do a "2 cable box" set up. I've spent a little while searching through the forums assuming I'd find someone else asking this, but to no avail. (Which almost certainly means I've been looking in the wrong place, I know.) So while I apologize for what is likely a "repeat" post from a question that others have asked, does anyone have any ideas to help me fix this?
thanks!
