    I got an original Philips 14hr HDR112 Standalone Single 13.6GB A drive TIVO. It's giving me the error

    "The TiVo recorder has not made a successful daily call for over 30 days. No TiVo service funcionality will be available until the recorder makes a successful daily call. Until then, no season passes and programs will be recorded and software updates will not be available."

    It's making the test call just fine, but this is what I get when it does the daily download. The phone is Quest and it's been fine for over a year when we switched to Quest phone. Because of the Test call going through, I'm thinking it's not a modem thing, is it? - Noel

    That's usually a hard drive issue - the unit can't load the data onto the drive because the drive has corruption. I'd recommend trying a replacement drive:

      I can record only Live shows, but only about 4:30 hours in High quality. The low quality doesn't work. If it's still recording in High Quality, why is that a drive issue and not a software issue?

        Well, the software is really pretty solid on these units. So if there's a software issue, it's probably corruption, which is a hard issue, really.

        If you're still running a 13.6 GB drive, it could be ten years old now. So corruption would be very, very easy to understand.
