Hi,
We have a Series 1 TiVo, a Series 2, and an HD TiVo, all with lifetime guide updates. The HD TiVo takes two connection cards, and the other two take none. All three now get TV signal through the cheapo Comcast option, which provides maybe 25 broadcast channels for about $10 per month via direct coax connection (i.e. no set top boxes.)
We're about to purchase FIOS, which requires a set top box for every TV. It appears to me that the HD TiVo will work fine with Verizon-supplied connection cards, but the other two won't. Is that true? Is there any way I can continue to use these two TiVos with FIOS?
If not, I could continue the Comcast service and connect the two old TiVos and two TVs to that. That way I could use the old TiVos for broadcast recording and the HD TiVo for cable. Since the HD can get programs recorded on the Series 2 via our LAN, stuff recorded there could be viewed on the HD TiVo.
Are the Series 1 and Series 2 TiVos really incompatible with FIOS TV? Any other comments?
Thanks,
Mike
