I just bought a WeaKnees HD TiVo, 3 AirLink APL 8511 powerline network adapters, and a USB to Ethernet adapter so I could connect the new HD TiVo and my old Series 2 to the internet and to each other. Previously the Series 2 used the phone line.
Setup after a few glitches went fine. I plugged each TiVo into a powerline adapter and the third adapter into my LinkSys WRT160N WiFi router, and ran the HD TiVo setup with no problem. The Series 2 started using the internet connection immediately without any intervention on my part. After the setup, both the Series 2 and HD TiVos are now able to get the program guide and view video on demand via the network with no problems. Everything else on the LAN, i.e. 3 wired PCs and a WiFi notebook, work fine.
My only problem is with transferring programs from one TiVo to the other. On both Tivos I can see the other TiVo in the Now Playing List (most of the time, sometimes they don't show up at all), but when I view what programs are available on that TiVo the list is always empty.
I've made sure that Allow Transfers (on the TiVo web site) is enabled for both TiVos, restarted each TiVo more than once, manually initiated an update on each TiVo more than once, and checked the connection speed of the powerline adapters using the AirLink utility (both are over 25 Mbps). I don't know what else to try.
Any ideas on other things to try to get this to work?
Thanks,
Mike
